As always Im looking forward to another season of Big Fish and happy, smiling anglers. I want 2008 to be my best season ever, this in my 10th year as a Maine Guide and Charter Boat Captain. NEW PICS FROM 2006, 2007 AND Finally 2008! here they are:

11 foot male blueshark. 45 minute fight! We tagged and released this majic fish

A blurry image of our Mako. It was during a tournyment and the only shark we killed all season, the others were all tagged and released. The Mako weighed 242 pounds and was 8 feet long. We took 3rd place (catch and release category) in the Casco Bay Classic; it's inaugural tournyment!

Well we caught our first tuna of the season on Thursday. It weighed 275 pounds estimated, the tuna buyer "forgot" his scale. I'll bet that the dressed (minus head, tail, guts) weight will be 225lbs. It was 85 inches, caught on anchor on a tuna charter. The angler was Alex and his buddy Mike (both from Wake Forest Univ.) gaffed the tail for tail wrapping. I know its not a tackle buster, but it might be the best fish of the week. Id like to see it in the paper. I have many pics and heres one of me and the guys wives. Chris, the mate on the boat set the hook on the fish and I harpooned it, it was really cool fight with a combined effort by the 4 guys aboard. A fine day at sea, we also landed 2 blue sharks.

A smile only a Giant Atlantic Bluefin Tuna can create! Image by Rick Hill 10.05

A 400 lb dressed weight Giant! We had just about given up for the day, it was dark, we threw our last pieces of chum and...Im glad we stayed to fish (a little) longer. The day before we suffered through 14 foot seas! Sometimes the price is paid with the ultimate reward.

Well here I go, just after I finally get around to putting my (former) biggest fish ever online, I go and one up myself. Yes! here it is the new 'Biggest Fish I ever Caught'!!! 820 POUNDS!!! 112 inches long (9'4"), this beast was succomb by John Pappas and I during a surprisingly easy and short battle. I hope we see many more behemoths like this soon. Image by Steve Merrill 10.7.05
